WiCS Initiatives

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

WiCS is working to increase diversity within CS not only for women, but also people of intersecting underrepresented identities. We host Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion workshops as well as partner with other clubs on campus to push this goal forward.

Industry Events

We are connected with a wide variety of industry partners across multiple industries. These partners host events with us throughout the school year. Specifically, they provide great resources for recruiting and professional development.

Community Events

WiCS Community events occur year-round with the goal of building a sense of community within Stanford WiCS and the broader student body. Quarterly programs are Midterm Recharge Bonfire or Movie Night, Casual Dinners, Message Grams, and Boba Study Nights. Planned socials and events include a San Francisco day trip, Hike the Dish, and Big Sib + Little Sib program, Bob Ross painting nights, Special D’s, Picnic Plates, and Farmer’s Market trips. All community events are open to any student on campus. See our calendar for the latest events here.

Career Panels & Coffee Chats

Each quarter, WiCS hosts multiple coffee chats, where a small number of selected students have the opportunity to meet a professor at Stanford or a professional in the technology field. Some of our past coffee chat guests include Cynthia Lee, Julie Zelenski, Mary Wooters, and more. We also host career panels throughout the year where we bring in interns and full-timers to talk about their work and journey through tech. You can request a coffee chat with a specific professor or professional here.
